Early reviews from net…
Magnum opus of the trio Shankar-Rajnikanth-A.R. Rahman finally kick-opens in towns as the chartbusters will be released this evening across the globe. With entire globe counting its minutes to catch the thundering musicals of award academy winner, we bring you the first exclusive music review of ‘Endhiran – The Robot’. The highlighting USP of ‘Endhiran’ is Rahman swapping away from his preexisting patterns and opting for western stroke. To be precise, the instrumentals and rhythmic beats have lots of realms, thereby capturing listeners’ interest over the first time.
1. Puthiya Manitha
Vocals: Singers: S. P. Balasubramaniam, A. R. Rahman, Khatija Rahman
Lyrics: Vairamuthu
Incredible number with realms of unparalleled significance! It’s incisively due to vocalizations generated with computerized orchestration. Vairamuthu’s lyrical lines throw an unconditional praises of ‘New Man coming into existence on Earth’. Rahman seems to have opted S.P. Balasubramaniam for his luck factors with Rajnikanth in his erstwhile compositions (‘Oruvan Oruvan Mudhalali – Muthu’ and ‘Ballelaka – Sivaji the Boss’). The techno beats over the accompaniment emblazons the song and A. R. Rahman’s vocalizing part in robotic style is stunning. Rahman’s daughter Khatija spellbinds with her mellisonant tone.
2. Kadal Anukkal
Vocals: Vijay Prakash & Shreya Ghosal
Lyrics: Vairamuthu
The cherry-pick of this album and for sure, it will be an evergreen melodic duet. It looks like A.R. Rahman has got himself bounded to African music as the base sounds to be similar. Vijay Prakash and Shreya Ghosal are the best choices as they exhibit the reveling touch of romantic ambience. The instrumentals are quite milder and constant rhythms spieled on guitars add more intensity.
3. Irumbile Oru Idhayam
Vocals: A.R. Rahman & Kash ‘n’ Krissy
Lyrics: Madhan Karky
English lyrics: Kash’n’Krissy
Let’s go to Hollywood. ‘Irumbile Oru Idhayam’ spells out an overmastering effort from A.R. Rahman. The maestro gears up for a super-ultra duet with splendid rhythmic accompaniments. Kash ‘n’ Krissy is perfect with her ne plus ultra. The song is sure to make high waves, once viewed on screens. Madhan Karky’s lyrics are about a Robot professing its love for a girl.
4. Chitti Dance Showcase
Vocal: Pradeep Vijay, Praveen Mani and Yogi B
Additional Arrangements and Programming: Praveen Mani
The song is similar to Slumdog Millionaire’s ‘The Liquid Dance’ performed by Palakkad Sriram and Madhumitha as stylish treatment of carnatic vocals blended with fast-paced engineered beats are the same. Hats off to Praveen Mani as his additional fill-ins make it mighty and Yogi B’s rap liners are swiftly done. Sounds like a signature music…
5. Arima Arima
Vocal: Hariharan & Sadhna Sargam
Lyrics: Vairamuthu
Additional Vocals: Benny Dayal, Naresh Iyer
The stunning showpiece arrives at the latter part of this album. Mark our words! You’ll fall transfixed over this tune for the first time you hear it. Wow! Everything is outstanding with this number as singers, the rhythmic compositions and chorus parts have been mind-bogglingly delivered. The trumpets played during interludes are excellent and the royal marching rhythms are yet another embellishing factor.
6. Kilimanjaro
Vocals: Javed Ali and Chinmayee
Lyrics: Vairamuthu
Additional Vocal Arrangements: Clinton Cerejo
Time for African mania: Rahman apes the tribal chorus and its percussions. Unlike ‘Veera’ of Raavanan, Rahman has diminished the effects by blending some additional beats. Javed Ali top-notches with his usual style while Chinmayee sounds quite odd. The visual goldrush should attract the audiences and as of now, it’s just an average number.
7. Boom Boom Robo Da
Vocals: Yogi B, Keerthi Sagathia, Swetha Mohan, Tanvi Shah
Lyrics: Madhan Karky
Zippy take on Robot’s transcendences. Keerthi, Swetha Menon and Tanvi Shah throw their Midas-touch over the song. Yogi B’s rap and Madhan Karky’s simple lyrics are grasping to senses. And again, the visuals must enhance the music as it happens usually with some of Rahman’s compositions.
On the whole, the musical album of ‘Endhiran’ has some new-styled strokes from academy award winner A.R. Rahman. With some of the songs completely based on new genres, it may take some more time for the universal masses to savvy its essence.
